Themes on Television

Sometime ago I read that people who are good at detecting patterns in all aspects of life may seem like they are more successful or actually do obtain great success. This might be due to their ability to understand when there is a series of events that has a pattern, and anticipate to some extent the range of possible outcomes that may occur. People who are really good at this sort of thing can narrow this range of possibilities and take the most approximate appropriate action. It is an interesting concept, and one that I wouldn't mind pursuing in the future. But today, I will offer an example of an intentional theme in one of the most common media, news, and entertainment outlets, television.

Over the past few years, I have noticed that on some days, no day in particular, there are certain ideas or themes that are repeated on t.v.. The theme can pervade several channels, or it can stay within a network. I will provide you with an example. Yesterday, Comedy Central had different things concerning farts. On The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, which, might I add, is a great show, Louis Szekely, known as Louie C.K. professionally, talked about farts, and how awesome they are, and why they are always going to be funny (I agree). Then, on TOSH.O, there was a segment called Web Redemption, where this kid was invited back to the show because he got kicked off of his bus for farting.

Now this kind of thing has happened before, this was just one example. I don't know if it is planned, but it sure seems like someone is dictating a theme. Either that or I just pick out random things and think there is some meaning behind it. Or I could just be delusional. Either way, its strange. So when you're strange, and no one remembers your name, just remember, a fart will put a smile on someones face.

Peace out!

P.S. Today at Slick Willie's "Family" Pool Hall, the manager asks a waitress why she doesn't have her pouch on, and why she wants her kitty cat all exposed. That put a smile on my face.
